Today we travel to Granada and visit the jewel of Andalusia: The Alhambra. 🕌 It is absolutely essential to book your tickets months in advance, especially for the Nasrid Palaces! This sprawling palace-fortress complex is the pinnacle of Moorish art in Europe. The Nasrid Palaces are the heart of the complex, with their impossibly detailed stucco work, serene courtyards, and whispering fountains. It's a place of overwhelming beauty that will leave you both in silent awe.

Part of the Alhambra complex, the Generalife was the summer palace and country estate of the Nasrid rulers. These are some of the most beautiful gardens you will ever see. Walk along the Courtyard of the Water Channel, surrounded by flowerbeds, fountains, and colonnades. It's a peaceful, idyllic paradise and a wonderful place to wander together after being mesmerized by the palaces.

Spend the morning exploring the Albaicín, Granada's old Arab quarter. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a maze of steep, narrow streets, whitewashed houses, and charming squares called 'carmens' - traditional houses with large, beautiful gardens hidden behind high walls. It's a delightful place to get lost and discover the city's Moorish past at a slower pace.

For the most iconic and romantic view in all of Spain, head to the Mirador de San Nicolás for sunset. This viewpoint offers a stunning panoramic vista of the Alhambra palace set against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains. As the sun goes down, the palace walls glow a warm red, creating an unforgettable spectacle. It's often busy, with local musicians playing Spanish guitar, adding to the magical atmosphere. Surrounding the Mezquita is the Judería, or Jewish Quarter. This is another historic labyrinth of narrow streets, similar to those in Seville and Granada.
